Hi!
http://wcnews.com/articles/wc2snes.shtml
Since I'm going back in forth with some friends in Tokyo, i was wondering if any of you ever saw that title. EGM reviewed it.
Not talking about the secret missions cartrige but the unreleased Revenge of the Kilrathi one.
Would appreciate any input! |

This is just a reply to rolan, really.... Yeah, the game would have been significantly, but maybe not magically, different. Around 1992, this game was a PC killer. I remember it well, trying the get the most of your 4MB of EMS or XMS memory and such, well before the internets were of much use. The missions were sometimes fairly complex, say, a bombing run where you were one of four bombers with eight fighter escorts flying into some hot zone to wipe out some capital ship, inevitably turning into a situation where you are the lone survivor taking out every last enemy fighter so you could eventually jump back home. There is no way that game would have survived intact on the SNES, and I'm certain a ton of art and gameplay would have been dropped.
Years later, they had Ginger Lynn telling Mark Hamill stuff like "Sure looks like your ship got beat up out there." Looking back, I don't know how they resisted the impulse to add bow-chika-wow-wow music. |

random reply i know but bow chika wow wow just reminds of those crazy Lynx/Axe deodorant advert that are running in the uk at the mo... but back to wing commander, i can see why a cut down version would be interesting... after all for some bizarre reason i love the cut down version of the snes' addams family game that appeared on the game boy as pugsleys scavenger hunt minus like half the levels and any music! |

Thx for the replies!
I already have all versions of wc except for the super wc on 3do and mac. But about the snes version of the game, there has been some innovations made into this cart that were not available in the dos version 2 years before.
Right now, the best experience of wc2 is with the Kilrathi Saga Cd's, which is xp compatible.
Thx for any info! |

I hate them simply because the concept of overt, absurd attraction over some dude using body spray reminds screams "We are creatively bankrupt". Same goes for the one with the woman in a black dress doing the "closer.. come closer... I want to smell you right here." Geeez. This stuff doesn't sell anymore, too many cows giving away the milk nowadays.
At least the eclipse gum commercial scored serious fun points for the lispy "lint licker" insult. |
