I'll be so happy in a week when I don't have to hear a goddamn thing about all of this. |

BBH: You aren't that far off.... Voldemort and Harry are intimate. See, Harry's carrying around a little bit of Voldemort's soul or something, trapped in him when he was an infant. This prevents Harry from getting the upper hand and killing Voldemort until he somehow manages to get killed (and killing that bit of Voldemort by extension), then coming back to life, whereupon Voldemort kills himself by accident.
So, yeah, it's another retelling of the Christ story a la "The Matrix". |

Fuck Harry Potter. I wish every store that had some dumb-ass "Event" for the release had exploded, killing all the morons lining up for that pap. It would increase the world's IQ by about 20 points. |

Seriously, I'm seeing a lot of hatred for Harry Potter on other forums as well. Honestly, these folks don't have anything better to do in life other than to bitch about a book for that matter. |

And you have nothing better to do than bitch about the bitching. That's pretty sad. |

Not really bitching my friend, though, I don't see why so many people hate the kids book. It just seems quite absurd, but I'm sure you're the type that just follows the "crowd" and can't even give a reasonable answer why except for some lame arse response post like what you've done. Face it, your initial "event" post wasn't even remotely funny, but instead just simply ignorant. But I'm not gonna continue arguing and stoop down to your level.

The hatred stems from jealousy. Not of the fan base that lines up and waits for something in hordes. But for the Author and Publisher who, in a matter of 48 hours makes hundreds of millions of dollars. Jealous that they can't come up with something so beloved that consumers line up for hours, sometimese days, just to get it ASAP.
If they actually hated the books themselves, well they probably wouldn't be talking about it on the internet.
Also, I don't see how the world would gain 20 IQ points by a large group of children who ELECTIVELY READ SOMEWHAT LENGTHY NOVELS dying in one fell swoop. Sure, I get that you're saying their stupid for getting in on the hype, but did it ever occur to you that perhaps they really do enjoy reading the books enough, and are anxious to find out how it ends enough, to wait in line for it? I mean, it's really not a stretch of the imagination. |

Bingo.
The hatred stems from mediocre, turgid rehash being marketed as if it were the greatest fantasy literature ever. Fuck this cash grab and read some C.S. Lewis or some Tolkien. |

This is like the Guitar Hero vs. Guitar Freaks debate, except nobody's asking why you would read a book when you could just become a real wizard instead. |

I can get behind that sentiment. From all the media you'd think books had never been published before this. |

I've not read it, but a part of me says anything that gets people in the US, especially kids, to read can't be all that bad. But then someone always brings up "The DaVinci Code" and my argument is dead. |

Potter is the Da Vinci Code for kids. Total shit marketed as if it were the second coming. |
