|

I recently had the opportunity to dump a couple of AVE prototypes: Venice Beach Volleyball and Impossible Mission 2. Impossible Mission 2 turned out to be the same as retail, but Venice Beach Volleyball is different.
The most obvious change in the prototype build is that the "Ball" in "Volleyball" is written in a cursive font, rather than the block font used for the final:
There's also an odd change to the AVE logo displayed at startup. In the retail version, the border of the logo "shrinks," for lack of a better term, as it fades in. This doesn't happen in the proto.
I suspect there are other differences as well, since a good chunk of the code was changed between this build and the final.
Here's the rom. Big thanks to Luis Vasquez for letting me dump and share his protos. |

Yeah, byte-for-byte identical to "Impossible Mission II (U) [!]" in GoodNES. |
