Bumping old threads is all good when you're actually contributing something. :)

I actually got in touch with Mr. Yoshikawa last year and pelted him with questions about Wurm. He was really nice and answered them all in detail.

One thing I didn't ask about was the Bonk 64 game that eventually became a Bomberman title. I'd like to hear the story behind that.

And you didn't care to share with the rest of the class?

Hopefully, I'm not regurgitating questions. I'm sure you didn't ask questions about Cyclone System or A.I...right? (I really didn't ask much about Wurm)

Most of my questions dealt with geeky Wurm trivia, so I didn't think that many people would want to know how, for example, the character Sylvia was supposed to hook up with Moby's middle-aged father in the original script. I could still send you all of his answers, if you're interested.

Nope, and I didn't ask about Aicom, either. Or how his early plan for the second Golgo 13 game differed from the final version made by Aicom. Or whether or not he worked on that canceled Bonk RPG (I'm guessing he didn't).

I guess PM them.

We're currently in the process of translating the interview (and I'm still asking questions). Yoshikawa has to approve. I suspect it'll be up next week. If you like obscure game developer tidbits, you'll enjoy it.

Hey, I like Wurm! I'm all for some geeky Wurm trivia!

This is the big one! The Shouichi Yoshikawa interview is pretty much ready to go (still combing for typographical errors). I took numerous liberties with this one: answers were changed, questions were reordered, questions were changed/rewritten to fit the new order, notations were made by me in the English translation but not the original Japanese, I rewrote his English-only answers so they'd make more sense, questions were reasked to reflect new discoveries...

Eventually, Kid Fenris' Wurm Q&A will go up as a text file. I will probably not rewrite Yoshikawa's original English.

So, he DID confirm that Eon Man was Black Manta 2 with a new face, right? His answer was a little confusing.

Yeah, basically, but I guess he had little to do with the retooling from Black Manta to Eon Man.
